Speaking about the enjoyment he has felt since his return to the club last summer, Moore sees plenty of work ahead to be done in his own personal Rovers project.

In the two previous summers, the club has been forced to hunt for new managers following the resignation of Darren Ferguson and Grant McCann’s poaching by Hull City.

While Moore’s profile and reputation in the game is significant enough to expect there will be interest in his services from elsewhere, he has no desire to move on.

“There is so much work that I want to get stuck in here,” he said.

“Providing the results are right, I’m here and I’m committed at the football club.

“The club gets Darren Moore as a whole because I’m fully committed.

“We just want to put together a team that exemplifies what the club is in the community, that has the support of the fans and that everybody is proud to see going forward as a competitive team.

“We’re trying to work towards getting the right people in here so there is that all round continuity from a business point of view, from a community base and certainly from a football basis in terms of going forward.

“There is a lot of work for me to do, a lot of work for the staff to do and it won’t stop.

“Week to week is about moving onwards and upwards.”

Moore arrived back in Doncaster as Rovers boss 22 years after his departure as a highly popular young player.

Though much has changed between his two spells, the 45-year-old is very much enjoying being back at the club.

He said: “I’m delighted to be back here, back in the area and back among the local people.

“Wherever I’ve been on the streets and in different environments, everybody has had positive things to say and I’ve had positive words for them because I’m delighted with the support.

“It was a proud moment for me, having been a player here during a time that I loved. It’s been an honour to come back and manage the club.”
