JOHN Buckley’s Belles were left reeling by Bristol’s late show.
Substitute Loren Dykes came off the bench to score with her first touch and settle a scrappy WSL clash with just six minutes remaining.
The home side had the better of the chances - but the Belles had their moments too.
Katie Holtham headed inches over the bar from Kylla Sjoman’s corner, while Academy keeper Siobhan Chamberlain saved Vicky Exley’s fierce 25-yard free kick.
Belles keeper Helen Alderson, meanwhile, had to be alert to thwart efforts from Helen Bleazard and Grace McCatty.
The decisive moment came when Lillie Billson played in Dykes who fired home to move basement side Bristol up to fifth in the table - level on points with the Belles.
Buckley’s side host Liverpool at the Keepmoat Stadium on Wednesday night (7.45pm).
