BREAKING: Doncaster Rovers sign Southampton winger on loan until January

The 23-year-old trained with the Rovers squad on Friday morning and will be eligible to make his debut in Saturday’s clash with Portsmouth.

“I’m delighted now it’s all gone through," he told the club’s official website.

"It’s something that I’ve been looking forward to and the way Doncaster play is ideal for me.

“I spoke with the manager and he explained to me what he wants, I’ve heard good things about the club so I’m happy that it’s fallen into place quite quickly.

“I’ve had a look at the squad and the other players they’ve brought in are impressive, I’m looking to play regular football now and take advantage of the opportunity.”

Sims has made 27 senior appearances for the Saints across the Premier League and Europa League.

He spent last year on loan in MLS with New York Red Bulls and saw that deal extended into 2020 before the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

Primarily a right winger, Sims was previously on loan at Reading in the Championship and made 18 appearances for the Royals.

He will wear the number 20 shirt at Rovers.
