Balby Carr’s blossoming girls football academy hope history repeats itself when they play in the English Schools FA National Cup final next week.
The Doncaster sports college won the ESFA Cup last year when they triumphed 6-2 against Reading’s Madejski Academy.
Balby will be aiming to repeat that performance against Thurstable Sports College at Carrow Road - the home of Norwich City - in next Wednesday’s final.
Getting to this year’s showpiece has been a fairly straightforward exercise for Balby.
They have scored 41 goals and conceded just four on their way to the final - including 8-1 hammerings of Dronfield Henry Franshaw School and Beachamp College, and a 9-1 thrashing of Heckmondwike Grammar.
Penistone School, Wolfreton School and Ormskirk School were also easily cast aside as the academy continue to go in search of league and cup glory on all fronts.
The girls have also reached the regional final of the performance section of the British Colleges Cup and the last four of the same competition’s elite section.
Balby’s team in the ECFA League Regional 3 also remain unbeaten.
