KATIE Waddell and Kirstie Nicholls helped fire Balby Girls Football Academy to a hat trick of county championship titles.
The deadly duo finished the recent South Yorkshire Under 18s tournament as Golden Boot leaders after netting seven goals each.
Balby Academy of Sport have won the trophy every year since it has been played and the girls did not disappoint this time around.
In addition to Waddell and Nicholls’ scoring exploits, Balby’s watertight defence also played a major part in the academy’s third successive title win.
The Doncaster school did not concede a single goal in six games, while also scoring 17 in the process.
They went into their final group game knowing that all they had to do was avoid defeat against All Saints School of Sheffield to retain the trophy.
Balby controlled the game from the outset and eventually broke the deadlock in the closing stages of the first half when some neat footwork from Waddell allowed her to slot home the opener.
Waddell then struck with a spectacular second half volley to seal a sixth win out of six and make sure Balby got their hands on the trophy.
Two goals from Olivia Goddard wrapped up a 2-0 win over a strong Barnsley side, while Wath were also beaten by the same scoreline.
Nicholls inspired a 3-0 success over Sheffield’s Notre Dame School and Wickersley were despatched 4-0.
Doncaster rivals Danum also failed to halt the Balby bandwagon as Nicholls, Waddell and Kim Brown combined to earn the champions another 4-0 win.
Balby’s girls are also set to visit to Reading’s John Madejski Academy in the quarter-finals of the BCS Elite play-offs.
