Armthorpe Welfare net first league win but Rossington Main suffer late heartache

Armthorpe Welfare bounced back from a 4-0 home defeat to Emley AFC to win at struggling Selby Town by the same scoreline on Tuesday night.

Mike Carmody’s side suffered their third straight defeat against the early pacesetters on Saturday.

But goals from Adam Lee, Harry Brown, Adam Baskerville and Luke Williams sealed Welfare’s first win and points of the new NCEL Division One season against bottom team Selby.

Armthorpe host Brigg Town on Saturday (3pm).

Rossington Main endured a frustrating week as they lost 2-1 at Campion on Saturday and then conceded two late goals to go down by the same scoreline at home to Nostell Miners Welfare on Tuesday.

Aidan Kirby and Mohammad Qasim struck either side of half time for second-placed Campion before Tyla Bell halved the deficit midway through the second period.

Jordan Buckham gave Ben Hunter’s side the lead in their midweek match but Samuel Ford grabbed the equaliser for Nostell after 81 minutes and Ashley Austin netted the winner with 89 minutes on the clock.

Rossington travel to unbeaten Emley AFC on Saturday.

*Harworth Colliery continued their impressive start to the season with a 3-0 win over Long Eaton United Community in the Buckingham Insurance League Cup.

Tom Bedford, Ainsley Finney and Callum Brooks netted for Harworth, who have taken ten points out of 12 in the Central Midlands League North Division.

AFC Bentley lost 6-1 at Newark Town in the cup.

Thorne Colliery remain point-less in the North Division after a 2-1 defeat at Retford United.
