Andy Butler on using free agents to bolster Doncaster Rovers squad
Andy Butler admits he was considering looking into the free agent market had the injury crisis at Doncaster Rovers continued.
Rovers have been without a raft of senior players over the last fortnight but have received positive news in recent days with the majority set to return ahead of this weekend.
Had that not been the case, Butler says he had tentatively examined free agents out there but says that would hardly have been a quick fix for the squad.
“It was something we looked into,” Butler said.“The only problem with bringing in a free agent is the timescale on getting them fit.
“That’s what you’ve got to be careful of, along with bringing in the right character and right person for the squad.
“Maybe if this had gone on for much longer and players weren’t coming back it would have been a possibility but at the same time the players are coming back.”
