Boss Darren Ferguson last week claimed he had completed his permanent business for the summer and would turn his attention to loan signings closer to the start of the season.

But he swooped to add much needed cover to his full back ranks as Rovers returned for their first day of pre-season training.

It is understood the full back trained with his new team mates in one of two sessions yesterday and has finalised all the details of his move.

His signing will be announced today, subject to the final confirmation from his current club.

The player is set to add competition at left back where Cedric Evina is the only fit option currently at Ferguson’s disposal. Aaron Taylor-Sinclair will be out for the rest of 2016 due to a cruciate knee ligament injury.

Meanwhile, the future of at least one of Rovers’ remaining transfer-listed quartet is expected to be decided in the next few days.

Curtis Main, Thorsten Stuckmann, Dany N’Guessan and Billy Whitehouse were all made available by Ferguson at the end of last season and the Rovers boss is confident they will be departing the club soon.

Stuckmann joined in training with the Rovers squad yesterday but it is understood he is being permitted to take part for fitness purposes only.
