Doncaster Town suffered a seventh straight defeat as they were put to the sword by title chasing Rotherham Town.
The Town Field club’s campaign has imploded after a promising start and they were no match for second-placed Rotherham in a one-sided derby clash.
The visitors kept up the pressure on leaders Barnsley with an eight wicket victory, thanks in part to a 67-run haul from Anthony Del Borrello.
Ben Sanderson took 4-21 and Anthony Ogden 4-35 as high-flying Rotherham had Doncaster back in the pavilion for just 115.
Opener Gareth Cox weighed in with 46 during a modest first innings that saw Luke Townsend (17) become the only other home batsman to reach double figures.
In reply Rotherham raced after their target, losing just two wickets as they notched up a comfortable victory to keep in touch at the top.
Del Borrello’s 67 came in 52 balls and included ten fours and one six.
Doncaster have not won since May 25 and now find themselves just three points better off than bottom side Hull.
Jonathon Trower hit 120 to keep Barnsley top of the table with a victory against Sheffield United.
The result leaves United second bottom of the table after they succumbed to a six-wicket defeat, in which a promising first innings was undone by a masterclass from Trower.
Suleman Saleem and Jay Scholtz made a strong start for the strugglers, hitting 79 and 71 respectively, as United reached 237 all out.
Ali Jahangir took 5-62 and Callum Bethel 3-61 for Barnsley.
Trower’s performance with the bat, aided by a fine 60 from Azeem Rafiq, proved too much as Barnsley chased down United’s total with wickets to spare.
