LOCAL CRICKET: Crowle beat Broughton as Haxey topple Scunthorpe

Home skipper Liam McAnaney won the toss and chose to bat first which proved to be a good decision when openers Richard Wroot and Andrew Lawson made a spectacular start, reaching 53 in just eight overs.

Lawson hit one towering straight six and a thunderous cover drive before being well caught on the mid wicket boundary.

Wroot had made 30 when he was next to go as he too was caught out with the total on 63.

Craig McAnaney was stumped by the quick silver Nick Dobbs who remains one of the best keepers in the league and at 83-3 the innings was delicately balanced.

Peter Tait and Graham Clark added 49 before Clark was trapped LBW by Simon Pullan for 15.

Deol Singh then blasted 34 in just 18 before he was bowled by the wiley Paul Reed.

Tait took his score to 59 and was then caught on the boudary before Tom Sharpe and Russell Fletcher secured full batting points when brining up the 200.

Sharpe was out for ten, after which Fletcher (12 no) and Andy Torr (11 no) brought the innings to a close with a final total of 224-7.

Deol Singh then took 5-52 as Outcasts managed to restrict their opponents to 180 with Liam McAnaney and Tom Sharpe also taking two wickets apiece to give Outcasts a second season win in their fourth outing.

Meanwhile, Haxey Cricket Club picked up an impressive three wicket win over Scunthorpe Town on Saturday.

Having won the toss and elected to field first, Haxey bowled Scunthorpe out for 149, with Wasim Ahmed top scoring with the ball for 4-35.

Ryan Moody and Keegan Allen took the other wickets as they both finished with figures of 3-36

In response the Isle side got off to a steady start, with the first wicket - Mark Metcalfe (11) - falling at 21-1, and the second at 58-2.

Thomas Wraith top scored with 41, as Haxey passed the target after 44.5 overs, with Oliver Tonks (26) and Ryan Moody (20) steering them to victory.
