THE Doncaster and District Infirmary 20/20 Evening Cricket League are looking to attract new teams for the 2012 campaign.
The league has been running since 1947, and its objectives are to raise money for specific projects within the Doncaster Royal Infirmary, and to provide competitive evening cricket for teams in the Doncaster area.
Up to 2008, games were contested over 16 x 8 ball overs. But in 2009 member clubs decided to change to the increasingly popular 20/20, format.
“Players who play regularly in the league say that playing a competitive game is better than net practice, and the league is looking to expand in he 2012 season,” said secretary Steve Ward..
“Wherever possible, all games have official umpires which adds to the experience.”
Since the league started, around £18,000 has been donated to special causes at the Infirmary
