Cricket: Haxey facing relegation battle

Haxey Firsts have a fight on their hands at the wrong end of the table following a weekend defeat to Market Deeping.

Bottom club Hartsholme moved closer to the Isle club - who lie in 11th but still have a 16 point advantage.

Despite their defeat, Haxey did manage to pick up a point after being bowled out for 122 by the hosts, for whom Tom Andrews took five for 45 as the Lincolnshire outfit went on to win by six wickets, finishing 123-4.

Haxey now have it all to do on Saturday as they need to pick up points quickly, with third-placed Bracebridge Heath CC their next challenge at Haxey Lane, from 12.30pm.
