The super lightweight fighter will compete in his tenth professional bout at Rotherham’s Magna Centre on Saturday night.

And he will head to the ring proudly sporting the colours of his hometown club.

The 22-year-old has had ring gear made in the red and white hoops of Rovers and will look to do Doncaster proud with another win.

“I’m proud of my town and where I’m from so I’ve got the same colours as the Rovers kit,” he told the Free Press.

“It’s a big thing for me. I’m a Doncaster lad and I want to represent my town with pride.

“I try to get to as many Rovers games as I can and when I’m not in camp I like to go away with my father-in-law and my brother-in-law. They’re big followers of Rovers.

“When I’m training I usually pop down to the home games.”

As he looks to continue the impressive progress made so far in his burgeoning career, Flint is hoping for a successful finish to the season for Rovers too.

“I suppose they could be doing better but they’re not doing too bad at the minute,” he said.

“The new strikers have made a difference and they’re starting to get more goals.“Hopefully they can pick up and aim for the top six.”

The only blemish on Flint’s record so far is a draw last July against the experienced Lee Connelly but he picked up a win in his next fight on his first step up to six rounds.

Manager Stefy Bull has hopes of guiding Flint into title contention, as well as top billing at The Dome over the next couple of years.

For now, the grounded Bentley fighter is focused on steady progress.

“I’m feeling good,” he said. “I’ve had a good camp and I’m feeling as good as I can.

“It’s one fight at a time and it’s just about building on what we already have and moving in the right direction.

“I feel good. I’d usually fight a bit lighter but we’re having the day weigh-in so we’re going in a bit heavier.

“I do believe my manager Stefy has a plan for me and we’ll sit down after this one but I’m not looking too far ahead.”
