Would Mathieu Baudry like to stay at Doncaster Rovers?

The French defender is out of contract with Rovers in the summer.

But talk of new deals or releases does not concern Baudry just yet.

“We will see,” Baudry told the Free Press when asked if he would like to stay.

“We will have talks with the gaffer and see what is the plan going forward.

“At the moment I don’t know.

“I’m just focusing on the games.

“I’ve been out for a bit and I just want to focus on playing games and perfoming well. That’s it.”

The 30-year-old was an unused substitute in Tuesday night’s goalless draw with AFC Wimbledon but hopes to be involved in what could prove to be his final game for Rovers, when Wigan Athletic visit the Keepmoat on Saturday.

While there has been no clear decision on his future, Baudry is confident Rovers are heading in the right direction.

“We’ve got a decent bunch of lads and a great manager,” he said.

“You can see the club is building and getting better.

“It’s a good place to be but like I say it’s a business at the end of the day.

“The gaffer will see to do what is best for the club and I will do what is best for me.

“Obviously I like it here so we’ll see.”

After turning 30 earlier this year, Baudry knows his next contract with a club will be a key one.

And he is determined to make the right decision for the sake of his career.

That is particularly important to him given his two-year stint with Rovers has been blighted by injury.

He said: “I’m at an important time now. It is a big decision.

“I have got time to think about it and decide in the summer.

“It’s an important decision for me in terms of where I want to go.

“At my age it will be a big decision.

“We will see.

“I’m not thinking about it too much.

“I think it will take care of itself .

“I will have to think and talk with my family and see what happens.”

Rovers’ quintet of out-of-contract players were set to be informed this week over whether Ferguson intended to offer them fresh terms.

Joining Baudry in coming to the end of his deal are James Coppinger, Andy Williams, Craig Alcock and Cedric Evina.

Following the completion of his loan spell at Crawley Town, Evina will be released by Rovers.
