Work is expected to be finished by the end of August 2016 when the roundabout will be fully open. There will be a permanent revised speed limit of 40 mph on the approach roads to the roundabout.

The contractor carrying out the work is the council’s Highways Framework Partner Clugston Construction.

Councillor Neil Poole, cabinet member for Neighbourhoods at North Lincolnshire Council, said: “This is a huge investment of £1.3m to improve the road. The new roundabout will greatly benefit motorists, making it easier to get to their destination and will help improve traffic flows, particularly for those travelling from Brigg to the motorway.

"We have made every effort to minimise disruption and to maintain access in and out of Barnetby.

“Work currently taking place involves no road restrictions. Though from 7 March until work is finished, a set of three way traffic lights will be in place on the A18 leading from the motorway Interchange towards Melton Ross and including Wrawby Road. The traffic lights will be manually controlled between 7am and 7pm to minimise delays. During this time, Kings Road into Barnetby Le Wold at the junction with the A18 will be closed to all traffic and a diversion route will be in place through the village and back onto the A18 at Melton Ross.

“A temporary 20mph speed restriction will also be in place to enable the contractors to carry out the work safely.”

The proposed diversion from Brigg is to go up to Wrawby then turn right down Kettleby Lane, turn right onto the A1084, through Bigby and into Barnetby from West Street and Queens Road up Kings Road and then turn around at the junction with Hillside Crescent. The bus will come back down again. On short runs where the bus goes from Brigg to Melton and back down to Brigg it is going to stop at Barnetby and on longer routes where it goes onto Ulceby and Wootton it will go onto Melton Ross.

A revised timetable is being completed.

Humber Flyer

The HumberFlyer will not serve Barnetby during the road closure from 7 March but will continue along the A18 to Humberside Airport. We are advising residents of Barnetby that they will be able to use the new CallConnect service from 15 February 2016 to connect to the HumberFlyer at Humberside Airport to travel to Hull or Grimsby. Information is available on our website www.northlincs.gov.uk.

School and college routes

There are some school and college services affected. However these are purely revised timings due to having to use the diversion route as the pickup and drop off locations will be unaffected.

Melton Ross Bridge

With regards to the traffic lights currently on Melton Ross Bridge, we are hopeful that these will be removed on or around the 29 February when the bridge will be open fully to ALL traffic and the existing diversion routes will be removed.
