A woman has been rushed to hospital following a serious emergency incident in the swimming pool at The Dome this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the leisure centre in Gliwice Way earlier this afternoon, with eyewitnesses reporting several ambulances outside the building.

A spokesperson for Doncaster Dome said: “The emergency services were called to Doncaster Dome this afternoon following a rescue from the pool.

“Our lifeguard identified an adult female experiencing what looked to be a medical episode and responded quickly by entering the pool and performing a rescue.

“The emergency services attended site and the swimmer has now been taken to hospital.

“We have made the decision to close the pool for the rest of the day as we support our team.”
