Woman attacked with machete in serious assault near Doncaster tower block

Police and paramedics were called out to the scene and emergency vehicles could be seen by residents ouside the high rise Shaftesbury House block of flats in Intake as police and paramedics dealt with the emergncy.

A statement from South Yorkshire Police said that police were on the scene in Cardigan Road, Intake, Doncaster last night after being called to reports of what was described as a serious assault yesterday evening.

They stated: “At 6.10pm, the ambulance service notified us that a woman had been assaulted by someone using a machete.”

The statement said she was given treatment for an injury to her arm. The injury was not thought to be life threatening, they added.

The 14 storey block of flats is one of three residential tower blocks off Shaftesbury Avenue in the suburb.
