Wildlife park tall order ... even for Olympic giant Jess Ennis

The Gold medalist had to scale the heights to feed the four giraffes who are favourites with visitors at the innovative park, at Branton near Doncaster.

She will be hoping the lofty animals will inspire her to a high-flying performance in the high jump, one of the seven disciplines in the grueling hepthalon event which she won at London 2012.

Ennis-Hill, who lives in Sheffield, had a handful of bamboo which made a perfect snack for the curious giraffes.

The 28-year-old enjoyed the tour in a break from her intensive training for the Rio Olympics where she defends her Gold medal.

Her visit came as YWP gears up for a busy Bank Holiday and Half Term.

The park is the leading walk through park in the country with a unique collection of beautiful and endangered species.

It is home to endangered Amur tigers and leopards, African painted dogs, the country's only four polar bears, lions, monkeys, meerkats, camels as well as two new arrivals - rare wallaby twins.

YWP will be celebrating British and Irish Association of Zoos) National Love your Zoo week between Monday May 30 –and Friday June 3 with fun workshops and a trail for children to enjoy to mark all the conservation work that zoos do.
