DEVELOPERS have agreed to pay £2 million towards upgrading White Rose Way as part of plans to treble a housing estate.
Doncaster Council has supported plans to build 1,600 homes and shops on Woodfield Plantation.
The Government’s Homes and Communities Agency put forward outline planning permission for the extra houses, shops and community areas to be built off Woodfield Way in Balby.
A new Woodfield Link Road will be created to White Rose Way to join the M18 motorway.
Laura Richardson, representing the applicants, said it was a “high-quality scheme”.
The first of the five-phase development will see 200 homes being built off Woodfield Way and accessed from Tickhill Road.
The applicants said that the link road would be initially for public transport only around junction three of the M18 and would be restricted by a camera-controlled bus gate, in order to reduce traffic flow.
