The reason for the plummeting temperatures is an Arctic blast, bringing harsh winter conditions to much of the UK, with the north and Scotland being hit the hardest.
Come Saturday (December 14) rain showers are predicted. Forecasters have warned of potentially dangerous icy conditions that could come as a result of freezing wet weather.
Doncaster Council’s gritting scheme is in full swing now, with 24 gritters on standby at all hours of the day.
