Storm Christoph: Hour-by-hour weather forecast for Doncaster

The Met Office has put Doncaster on major incident alert after sounding an amber weather warning on Monday for the region, which is predicted to last until midday Thursday.

The villagers across the town have been working closely with the council workers on guarding their homes with sandbags and other flood defence measures.

As of Wednesday morning, the River Don, River Idle, River Went and River Dearne were put on flood alert and the people in several areas across town have been advised to prepare for the worst.

The areas include Bawtry, Bentley, Conisborough, Clay Lane, Fishlake, Intake, Mexborough, Scawthorpe, Tickhill and Wadworth.

Since the storm hit the nation on Tuesday, there have been thankfully no major incidents reported but people are urged not to keep their guard down.

This is because heavy rain continued to fall across the town overnight, and the Met Office said the wet weather will continue until this evening (January 20).

The Met Office has also forecast that the arrival of Storm Christoph will bring severe cold weather with icy conditions and heavy snow beginning Thursday.

On Wednesday, Doncaster will have a mild start to the day with outbreaks of rain and drizzle but will turn heavy and persistent especially over higher ground, with a maximum temperature of 11°C.

It will be colder tonight with period of heavy rain expected to continue with the risk of sleet and hill snow through the early hours as the temperature dips to 1°C.

But on Thursday, outbreaks of rain, sleet and hill snow will be gradually clearing, followed by sunny spells and scattered wintry showers.
