The terrifying moment a driver lost control on a Doncaster road and narrowly missed smashing into an oncoming car before hitting a tree has been captured on camera.

The footage shows a blue Ford Fiesta overtaking the car filming the incident and then losing control on the A630 near Hooton Roberts.

The car is shown starting to slide and then spinning around, narrowly missing a car coming the other way.

As the driver struggles to remain in control of the vehicle, the car ends up slamming into a tree at the side of the road in a cloud of dust after twisting across the carriageway.

Driver Stephen Shephard filmed the incident at at around 4pm on Saturday between Hooton Roberts and Conisbrough.

The video has been shared thousands of times on social media and watched by more than 400,000 people.
