The driver of the truck was just about to tip a consignment of rubble and bricks on land near Long Sandall – but was stopped in his tracks by an eagle-eyed passer by who filmed the encounter.

Spotting the truck on land near the side of the canal at Long Sandall Lock, the cameraman races up a track, already strewn with flytipped waste, to challenge the driver of the vehicle.

But the camera keeps rolling as the truck makes off across an overgrown field, capturing the vehicle’s number plate on camera.

The video, which was filmed earlier this year, has gone viral with thousands of views.

The man who filmed the clip, who has declined to be named, said he wanted the video to act as a deterrent to fly tippers.

"There’s been quite a lot of tipping in that area,” he said.

"The video was shared on the Save Long Sandall Facebook page and it went viral.

"He had got the back of the truck up ready to tip, but when he saw me coming up the track and filming him, he got away pretty quickly.

The footage has been passed to Doncaster Council who are investigating the incident.

Flytipping can carry huge fines, with fines of up to £50,000 for offenders.
