Road improvement work will begin on the westbound M180 between junction 1 and M18 junction 5 (Ings), near Doncaster next week.
The Highways Agency will be resurfacing sections of the westbound carriageway and replacing the road marking and road studs. Work will begin on 10 August and take place overnight from 8pm to 6am, until 19 August.
In order to carry out the work it will be necessary put in place a combination of westbound carriageway and lane closures, overnight between M180 junctions 2 (Woodhouse) and the M18 junction 5 (Ings). In addition to this, day time lane closures will be required between junction 1 and Ings junction on Sunday 11 and 18 August.
Highways Agency project manager, Steven Wright, said: “This work will improve the road surface and journeys for drivers on the M180. We encourage all drivers to drive carefully along the diversion routes, keeping within the speed limit, and concentrating on the road ahead.”
During the closures clearly signed diversion routes will be in place. M180 westbound traffic will be diverted off at junction 2 westbound exit slip road, turn right on to the A161 and proceed for 1 mile to the roundabout with the A18. At the roundabout, take the first exit onto the A18, continue for 10 miles to the roundabout with Hatfield Lane. At the roundabout take the first exit, continue on the A630 for 2 miles to the junction with the M18 (junction 4).
