She said: “I woke up and the door was wide open. At first, I thought my grandchildren had been round but then I realised my bag had gone.

“My son found my handbag dumped in a garden a few doors down but the £100 cash in my purse had gone and my bank card.

“When I checked, £350 had been taken out of my account.

“People need to be aware that there’s someone going around just trying doors and be on their guard.

“The thought of someone being in my house makes me sick, we need to catch this person.”
