War medal stolen in Doncaster burglary

A war medal of '˜huge sentimental value' has been stolen from a house in Doncaster.

Sometime between 11am and 4.15pm on Wednesday March 23, a house in Lister Avenue, Balby was broken into by smashing a window in the back door of the property.

Jewellery, including a silver chain and a silver engagement ring in the shape of a flower was stolen, along with the victim’s fathers WW1 Royal Flying Corps victory medal.

The medal has a blue and yellow ribbon and a service number on the edge, 11720.

The items are of huge sentimental value to the victim, and anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area at around the time of the incident is asked to contact police.
