Dozens of families gathered for the annual Snowdrop Festival at St Mary’s Church in Kirk Bramwith, near Barnby Dun, on Saturday and Sunday to take in the fresh air and look at the bright flowers.

The event has been going for more than 30 years and is held to herald the arrival of Spring as the churchyard is covered in a carpet of dainty blooms at this time of year.

There was also a range of stalls selling plants, cakes and refreshments, along with a tombola and bric-a-brac.

Those attending also took the chance to take in some of the fine stained glass windows within the Norman-era church, which is also believed to have the oldest bell in the Diocese of Sheffield dating back to 1350.

Church member Mary Crofts, who also had a stall on the day, said: “The churchyard looks wonderful at this time of year and it was great to see so many people visit.

“We had well over 100 people attend and everyone seemed to be having a great time.”

Proceeds raised on the day went towards the upkeep of the church.

Photographer Lesley Pickersgill captured the fun on the day.
