Views on what is being proposed by the South Axholme Academy at Epworth are now invited and the opportunity to comment will last until July 18 this year.

Subject to final approval by the Secretary of State, South Axholme Academy proposes to open its sixth form from September 2015.

Parents with children aged from two to 18, and anyone else with an interest in the schools, is invited to have their say over admissions.

The Sixth Form proposal at Epworth was developed in answer to ‘significant pupil and parent demand’. Currently the nearest post-16 provision is in Scunthorpe, 14 miles from the Academy, but a longer journey distance for many students.

Current Y11 students at the South Axholme Academy are able to transfer in to the Sixth Form in September this year, if they meet certain academic requirements. The official opening to students from elsewhere will be the following year, given official approval.

Staff and governors say that when pupils leave Year 11 they have to make a difficult transition without many networks that have supported them for years. Admission arrangements for the Sixth Form can be viewed on North Lincolnshire Council’s website and comments made by email to [email protected]
