Yarborough Terrace in Bentley was left under water after the torrential rain at around 5.30pm.

This video, taken by resident Kev Wingfield, shows how the road was left completely submerged as drains struggled to cope.

The water has now subsided, but fellow Yarborough Terrace resident, Eve Hanson, said she was concerned that properties on the street could flood next time the region is hit by heavy rain.

The 38-year-old said: "It was up to my knees and that was only after 45 minutes of heavy rain, what would have happened if it had carried on for longer.

"The council have said they can't do anything because it's only surface water, but what would they have done if it had rained for an hour and the water had started going into people's houses?

"For a while it felt like 2007 again!

"We've got a grit bin at the end of the street, why doesn't the council put sandbags there and give someone the key - so that if it does flood again we can get to them straight away?"
