VIDEO: Three held in Wheatley murder quiz

Three men are in custody in Doncaster tonight on suspicion of murder after a man’s body was found at a house in Wheatley.

Police were called to an address in Jubilee Road at around 9.20 this morning by paramedics after reports of a man being injured at the premises.

By the time they arrived, ambulance crews were at the scene treating the man from serious, unexplained injuries.

He was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary but died there later of his injuries.

Three men who were at the house at the time have been arrested and are currently in police custody.

Enquiries continue at the scene and a cordon will be in place for the next 24 hours.

A post-mortem examination will take place later today to establish the cause of death.

The alleyway at the rear of the street was also sealed off while it appeared two properties at the end of Jubilee Road nearest to Wheatley Hall Road had been taped off.

A white box van has also been sealed off as part of the cordon but it is unknown if this forms part of the police investigation.
Crime scene investigation teams have been at the property for most of the day with police officers to remain guard over the scene until tomorrow morning.

One woman, who lives in the street but who declined to be named, said: “The police aren’t really saying much of what’s gone off. The first I knew of it was when all the police and ambulances started turning up this morning.

“They have been here all day and lots of people have been wandering around looked concerned and upset. I didn’t know any of the people who lived in the house.”

Another neighbour, Jason Roe of nearby Stanhope Road said: “There have been a few problems round here in recent years. Its not the area it once was. I don’t really know what’s gone fof but its pretty bad times when someone gets murdered on your doorstep.”
