VIDEO: Leo’s solo spot at Isle awards night

Little Leo Palmer now owns an adapted trike to give him independence and mobility, both of which are restricted due to his having cerebral palsy.

Attendees at the Lex’s Legacy Pride of the Isle Awards saw three-year old Leo ride his trike, heard him sing an alphabet song and learned how extra physiotherapy sessions have led to him sitting unaided for two hours, instead of just two minutes as previously.

Chair of Pride of the Isle Leesa Sharpe told how the charity helped raise £10,000 to fund the trike and extra personal physiotherapy treatment for Leo, who was unable to get further help from the NHS.

His mother, Siobhan Edge of Birchfield Road, Epworth, said: “This has made all the difference to Leo. He is determined to walk one day and has made fantastic progress already.”

Siobhan was a winner of Pride of the Isle last year for the devotion to her son which has helped him defy doctors who said he would never move freely or talk properly.

Leo’s mum, dad Richard Palmer and physiotherapist Daniel Woods were with him at the Pride of the Isle celebration on Saturday.
