A sale at Ealand Victory Hall raised much-needed cash for abandoned pets.
Animal lover Mandy Lythe opened her rescue for abandoned dogs and cats in the Isle just weeks ago, to “answer a need in the area.”
Already she has several inmates at Croft House Kennels, West Stockwith, and is busy with co-workers Sarah Drewery and Carline Morrell, organising fundraisers.
“We’ve had a fantastic response from people, with donations of blankets and food which is great,” said Mandy. “We will need to find ways to keep up with costs so any help is appreciated.”
A sponsored walk helped raise some cash, along with the Ealand car boot sale held recently. New owners who have a pet from the rescue are asked to leave a donation.
“All the dogs and cats so far have been fairly young, and in some cases their owners have given them up because they feel they can’t afford to pay for them any more,” added Mandy.
She has had rescue pets all her life and currently has four dogs of her own.
