Police were called to Silver Street at around 4.15pm, due to reports that celebrating football fans were walking in the road and disrupting oncoming traffic.

The busy road was closed for approximately 15 minutes, as police attempted to make the road safe for pedestrians and motorists.

Buses were diverted during this time.

This followed the conclusion of the Euros clash between England and Wales just before 4pm, when England snatched a narrow 2-1 victory in the group stage match.

A police spokesman said no criminal activity is believed to have taken place, and that officers had found 'football fans in high spirits' when they arrived on the scene.
