After trekking his way throughout the length and breadth of the UK with trusted guitar in hand, Doncaster's Martin Black returns to his hometown to play a headline show at The Leopard, St Sepulchre Gate West on Saturday.

Armed to the teeth with the punk ideology and folk deprivation for revolution, "The Don of Doncaster" marries the two distinctive genres together seamlessly by turning folk on its ear and punk to its knees with his sharp lyricism and upbeat melodies.

From a very tender age, Martin was spoon fed vigorous helpings of the likes of Paul Weller, Billy Bragg, Joe Strummer and all the other gifted songwriters to have graced British music over scene the past 50 years.

Playing alongside Martin will be Amsterdam/Pele’s frontman Ian Prowse.

Pele was the first band Martin saw at a very young age and has been a fan ever since. Prowse has played with Elvis Costello and John Peel counted him as one of his top five artists - and Christy Moore has covered one of his songs.
