New boss Grant McCann believes his family will be proud that he works for a club like Doncaster Rovers.

McCann met the media on Thursday for the first time since his appointment as Rovers manager on Wednesday.

And when asked what attracted him to the job following Darren Ferguson's resignation earlier this month, the 38-year-old said the community feel of the club was a big draw.

"I've lived down this way - I've played for Barnsley, I've played for Scunthorpe," he said.

"The one thing is, there is always a lot of friendly people about and I've found that with meeting the staff today.

"It's all this itself - Club Doncaster.

"Being at the League awards last year and seeing Andy Butler picking up the community award and Matty Blair this year.

"It's a real family club and it's one I know my wife can be proud of me for being a part of - and my mum and dad back home.

"My kids can come here and enjoy it.

"And hopefully I can make all the fans in the stadium, and all the players can make them, happy and have a really good season."
