Seven mums from Doncaster are lacing up their trainers to take on the challenge of a lifetime, as they prepare to complete seven marathons in seven days.
The ‘Seven Mums, Seven Marathons, Seven Days’ team will complete 26.2 miles each, every day for a week, in a bid to raise as much money as possible for two local charities.
The funds raised will be split between Bluebell Wood Hospice and Dan’s Helping Hand – a new charity which raises funds to help bereaved families cover their children’s funeral costs.
Mum-of-two Fleur Holland is leading the charge, along with Stacey Hanley, Caroline Cole, Maria Cole, Elizabeth Kidd, Gemma Mills and Lorna Mee.
Fleur, aged 40, said: “We’re all really excited about completing this challenge.
“It’s not going to be an easy one , we’ve all got different levels of fitness, but we’ve also all got one thing in common – the determination to raise as much money as we can for these two fantastic causes.”
The mums will complete the challenge at Dearne Valley Leisure Centre this week. Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust (DCLT) has supported the mums by donating a month’s free gym membership to the team.
Kraig Kelly of DCLT, said: “We knew we had to help and have no doube Fleur and her friends who schieve their goal and raise as much money as possible.”
