A blood stained doorway in Doncaster town centre was sealed off by police this morning
An officer in a patrol car was at the scene at 7am today, with police tape stretched around lamp posts outside the former Co-op building on Printing Office Street.
A second car arrived on the scene shortly afterwards.
Blood could be seen on one of the steps outside what is now a British Heart Foundation charity store.
Streetsleepers have often been seen in the doorway in the mornings. Also lying in the doorway today was some bedding, cardboard, a plastic bag and a polystyrene cup.
A policeman on the scene this morning would not comment on what had happened.
