Vehicles destroyed after fire rips through Doncaster industrial estate car park

A number of vehicles were destroyed after a huge fire ripped through cars parked at a Doncaster industrial estate.

Three fire crews from Thorne, Doncaster and Askern stations were called to the car park on an industrial estate on Waggons Way, Stainforth, shortly after 7pm last night.

Crews arrived to find several vehicles were on fire.

A South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.”

Residents living nearby reported a large plume of black smoke as crews tackled the flames for more than two hours, leaving the scene at 9.10pm.

Meanwhile, Doncaster firefighters attended a deliberate grass fire at 7:20pm on Leger Way, Intake. The crew came away at 8:05pm.

And a conifer tree was deliberately set on fire in an incident on Woodfield Road, Balby, at 1am. Fire fighters from Edlington station attended the incident. They came away at 1.25am.
