"We appeal to anyone with information that may help to trace the driver to please come forward. We have been left devastated by our loss."

The BMW, thought to have been displaying a registration plate with the prefix HV07, collided with a parked vehicle on Station Road, before the collision with Sue.

Investigating officer Pc Phil Carson said: “We urgently need people to contact us who may have seen the car involved, whether it was before, during or after the collision. Understandably, Susan’s family has been left devastated by its loss and we need to interview the BMW driver as soon as possible.

"If you were the driver or know them, contact us now.”

Prior to both collisions, the BMW was seen leaving the Asda car park on Station Road, close to where officers in an unmarked police car were patrolling.

The police say their vehicle was 'not actively pursuing the BMW' when the collisions occurred, however the incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission due to the earlier involvement of officers from South Yorkshire Police.

If you saw the collision or have information, please call 101 immediately and quote incident number 841 of 11 March.
