UKIP victory in Doncaster by-election

UKIP has won another seat on Doncaster Council, beating Labour in a by-election last night.

The party’s candidate Paul Bissett polled 94 more votes than second place David Nevett to take the Edenthorpe, Kirk Sandall and Barnby Dun ward seat last night.

A total of 2,958 people voted in the ballot out of and electorate of 10,755, a turnout of 27.5 per cent.

Mr Bissett has previously represented the Liberal Democrats and Labour on the council.

The same ward saw UKIP win in May, when Fred Gee was elected.
