Two men have been arrested for firearms offences after an armed ‘stand-off’ in Doncaster tonight.

The men, aged 33 and 38, were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

At around 4.55pm today, officers were called to a food store in Conisbrough to reports that two men were making threats, causing damage and one was carrying a gun.

The men were reported to have left the store and a search of the area was carried out which led to a property in Poplar Grove, Conisbrough, which was then contained by specialist officers.

One man was arrested immediately and a second was negotiated out of the property after engaging with officers at the scene.

Poplar Grove was cordoned off at both ends while the negotiations were underway.

The road has now been re-opened and both men remain in police custody.

Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact 101 quoting incident number 722 of October 13 2015.
