IT’S FORTY years this month since trolleybus technology disappeared from the streets of Bradford – but it’s alive and thriving at the Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft.
The live action museum dedicated three days of the Easter weekend to a celebration of the buses that were once familiar in towns and cities all over the country, drawing their power from overhead electricity lines.
The UK’s largest working collection of these vehicles is now to be found at Sandtoft, where they are not static in a museum, but are out working around the museum grounds.
Events are planned throughout the summer, with the next two being the ‘north west weekend’ on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 of April, and then a ‘six-wheeler weekend’ on all three days of the first bank holiday weekend in May.
