Tributes have been paid to a 20-year-old father of two who died following a collision.

Daniel Cooke is believed to have been crossing the carriageway on Hampole Balk Lane, Skellow, when the incident happened.

His mother, Helen Humble said: “Daniel was a loving and devoted son to his parents Michael Cooke, Helen Humble and stepfather Martin Humble.

“He was always there for his two sisters Anna and Leanne, who adored him greatly.

“Daniel sadly leaves two young children, three-year-old Ryley and one-year-old Talisha, to whom he devoted his life.

“Daniel was a hard-working young father who always put other people before himself. He will be sadly missed by all his family and many friends.”

Daniel, from Carcroft, sustained serious head injuries when he was in collision with a red Fiat Punto, driven by a 19-year-old man, on the B1220 Hampole Balk Lane at around 12.45am on Saturday.

A police spokesman confirmed the driver of the Fiat did not sustain any injuries in the incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and to anyone travelling along the road, just prior to the incident, who may have seen Daniel.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident should call South Yorkshire Police on: 101 quoting incident number 63 of 26 October.
