Pedestrian dies on crossing

A WOMAN has been killed after being knocked down by a motorbike on a pedestrian crossing.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the fatal crash on the A18 Carr House Road in Doncaster just after 7pm on Friday night.

A 36-year-old was riding a gold Yamaha FZS 600 towards Sidings roundabout when he collided with the woman near to the junction with Childers Street.

The pedestrian who has yet to be named, sustained multiple injuries and died, police said.

The biker, from Walton, West Yorkshire, sustained serious pelvic and leg injuries, a police spokesman added. He was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary and detained.
