Passenger suffers life threatening injuries in High Melton crash

A MAN is fighting for his life after being thrown from a car which lost control in a Doncaster country lane.

The man, in his late 20s, was the front seat passenger in a silver Vauxhall Zafira when it careered into a field in Melton Mill Lane near High Melton.

He sustained life threatening multiple injuries to his head, pelvis and other internal injuries , police said. The man, from Rotherham, is being treated in Leeds General Infirmary.

The driver, a 45-year-old man from Goldthorpe, sustained minor cuts and bruises which did not need hospital treatment.

The vehicle left the road around 300 metres before the junction with Pastures Road shortly before 5.25pm yesterday. Police said the car failed to negotiate a bend and officers were trying to find out why.
