Motorway closed after a HGV collided with the barrier

Commuters are being advised of diversions due to a motorway closure following a HGV colliding with a barrier.

A HGV has collided with the nearside barrier on the M180 westbound resulting in a full closure of the carriageway between junctions five and four.

Emergency services including Humberside Police are in attendance. Highways England Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management. There is significant nearside barrier damage that will need to be assessed and repaired before the carriageway can be reopened.

Road users are advised to follow the hollow black triangle diversion symbol on road signs and leave the A180 using M180 J5 exit slip. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A18 and proceed for 500m to next roundabout. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A18 westbound and follow the road for 7 miles until the roundabout with the A15. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A15 and after 500m rejoin the M180 westbound at J4.
