A public transport company based in Doncaster has made the short-list for a prestigious award.
First South Yorkshire has joined organisations from across the UK in being nominated for a National Transport Award.
Supported by the Department for Transport and Passenger Focus, the 2015 National Transport Awards are due to take place on Thursday, October 8, at the Westminster Park Plaza in London.
First South Yorkshire is hoping to claim the Award for Travel Information and Marketing for the South Yorkshire Young Persons Fares Campaign, “Get Social On Our Network”.
The “Get Social On Our Network” campaign has been recognised for changing perceptions and generating significant customer growth of over nine per cent.
The campaign successfully targeted under 18s in Sheffield, Rotherham & Doncaster with the South Yorkshire £2 Day and £5 Week tickets which were first introduced in March 2014.
Promoting these great value tickets has helped reduce boarding times and supported families budgeting for travel through a wide-spread marketing campaign promoting the bus across South Yorkshire.
Paul Flanagan, Business Manager for First in South Yorkshire explained: “We’re delighted to be short-listed for a National Transport Award, which is recognition of the really positive impact of the great value child day and week tickets. The customer growth has been impressive following the extensive marketing campaign and we’re thrilled to have attracted more young people onto our bus services.”
Other organisations short-listed in the Travel, Information and Marketing category are West Yorkshire combined Authority, Transport for Greater Manchester, Network Rail, Lothian buses, Integrated Transport Planning Ltd, Glasgow City Council and First Greater Manchester.
The 15th Annual National Transport Awards celebrates the successes that have been achieved on so many national and local transport projects.
