Officials at Doncaster Council announced last night that the bridge that crosses the carriageway, over the bypass, and takes traffic into the centre of Mexborough, would be closed today after engineers raised structural concerns.

But today, the bus operator Stagecoach said its services would be delayed for three weeks because of the work.

The firm said in a statement today: “So sorry folks, but emergency bridge repairs in Mexborough are affecting services 221, 220, 218, 218a, and 208 for three weeks.”
