Highways England have announced the M18 is closed in both directions between Junction 3 St Catherines Interchange and Junction 4 West Moor Interchange as South Yorkshire Police deal with an incident close to Junction 4. The A630 West Moor Link is also closed between junction 4 and the roundabout at the junction with Yorkshire Way.

At 6pm Highways England said the entire road is now effectively shut between Junctions 3 and 5.

They said the closure was due to a “local, off-network incident affecting the motorway”, and that the road will remain closed for the “forseeable future”. Doncaster Council confirmed the incident was “wind-related”.

Road users are advised to expect disruption and allow extra journey time. Diversions are in place.

The Star has contacted South Yorkshire Police for comment.
