A MAN has been killed and a young child seriously injured when they were hit by an inter-city train in Doncaster this lunchtime.
Emergency services, including the air ambulance were called to Adwick station following the incident just before 12.30pm.
A spokesman for British Transport Police (BTP) said: “The child was injured and has been taken to hospital in Sheffield. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Officers are currently working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, and to establish the identities of both the man and child.
“The train involved was the 10:35am King’s Cross to Leeds service.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has any information which can help police, is asked to call BTP on 0800 40 50 40.”
